This article preserves the physiognomy vocabulary I used when it was first published. In my current practice I treat facial morphology not as a definitive verdict on personality or behaviour, but as a communication hypothesis that must be verified through behaviour, context and questions.

A unicorn is usually remembered by a single face; yet most often there are two complementary halves behind it. I wrote about Insider through Hande Çilingir in this column, the face of the stage and the strategy. But every strategy also has an engine: the second founder who sells the company across the world and ignites its growth. Serhat Soyuerel is Insider's co-founder and the face of revenue and growth. He is the "selling half" of this company that grew out of Turkey to serve more than a thousand global brands and reach unicorn status, and, in his own words, "we became the acquirer, not the acquired."

In my İşbecer column we read an empire built with an older brother, and in my Collison brothers column the "builder and envoy" duo; Insider's Hande-Serhat pairing is a strong Turkish example of this complementary partnership. So how is a founder's "selling half" read in a face? In face reading, the answer is written across Serhat Soyuerel's broad-smiling, energetic, warm face.

1. The Broad, Warm Smile: The Fire of Sales and Communication

Soyuerel's most defining feature is that broad, warm smile. In my physiognomy experience, a large, open smile marks the Fire element's communication power and sales talent; Fire is described as "strong in communication, likely to be salespeople." Selling a company to global brands requires exactly this persuasive power.

The proof is concrete: Insider's growth rested, alongside the product, on the ability to tell its story to brands around the world. In my Hande Çilingir column we read "the face of the stage and the strategy"; Serhat is the fire that turns that strategy into revenue, one builds the vision, the other sells it.

2. Lively, Energetic Eyes: A Gaze That Chases Opportunity

Soyuerel's lively, energetic eyes mark, in physiognomy, the Fire element's fervor and drive. These eyes see not a market, but an opportunity; wherever there is growth, they run there.

The evidence is dated: Insider expanded from Turkey into dozens of countries, including the US; this global spread requires an energy that constantly chases new markets and customers. Recall the young seller-founder from my Kaan Günay column; Soyuerel carries the same opportunity-chasing fire, but as a duo's growth engine.

3. Beard-Framed Round Features: Connecting Earth

Soyuerel's beard-framed round, warm features mark, in my physiognomy experience, Earth's connecting and trust-giving texture. Sales is not just persuasion, but building relationships; a customer commits long-term only to a face it trusts.

The proof is concrete: the lasting relationships Insider built with more than a thousand brands are the work of a partnership built on trust, not a one-time sale. Recall the connecting Earth face from my Nevzat Aydın column; Soyuerel carries the same texture, on the growth side.

4. The Resolute Chin: A Will That Says "We Became the Acquirer"

Soyuerel's resolute chin marks, in physiognomy, strong will and struggle. His will is summed up in a single sentence: "We became the acquirer, not the acquired." For a company grown out of Turkey to reach a position to acquire global giants is a goal only a chin this strong could imagine and chase.

The evidence is dated: Insider reached unicorn status and became a global player through large funding rounds. Physiognomy's description of a strong chin, "wants to design life by his own standards", explains this ambitious vision. The chin chose to say not "enough," but "bigger."

5. An Athletic, Driven Presence: Energy Thirsty for Growth

Soyuerel's athletic, driven presence marks, in my physiognomy experience, high life energy and drive. To be a company's growth engine requires endless energy and an appetite to constantly be in the field. This presence is the expression of a tireless sales and growth mind. His support for young entrepreneurs as an angel investor is this Fire energy spreading into the ecosystem.

Conclusion: Fire's Sales, Earth's Bond

On Serhat Soyuerel's face, Fire and Earth work together: in the broad smile, lively eyes, and that sales energy, Fire's communication power and fervor; in the beard-framed warm features and lasting customer relationships, Earth's connecting, trust-giving texture. Recall Hande Çilingir's strategic face; Serhat is that strategy's fiery, selling half, when the two come together, a unicorn is born.

Perhaps the sturdiest startups are the work not of a single genius, but of two complementary halves: one builds the strategy, the other sells it to the world. In your team, do the face that builds the vision and the face that sells it share the same fire?

The theme of sales, growth, and co-founder complementarity in this reading of Serhat Soyuerel can also shape the first moments of customer and team communication. To see how I adapt language, questions, and presentation order to different decision styles, explore my Sales & Communication approach.
